Ep 133. ”Cross Questioning” (Part 2 of Amy’s Interview with Tony Albanese)

In this second bite, Tony Albanese has a lot of questions for Amy about her experience in learning to tattoo. It's nice because we all know how difficult it is for Amy to listen :P (she's working on it always).
It's still such a mind-blow that tattooing gets so much attention in mainstream culture now; We can thank social media for that, coupled with curiosity and a natural, human, connection to art/creating. 
Tony is already an artist and we believe, still looking at tattooing to see if it's the right path for himself. This comes with wisdom as many tattoo tales are told by younger players who leaped into tattooing without really looking. It's clear Tony is looking and paying close attention. Ep 131. ”Brand Yourself!” (Part 3 of our interview with Garrett Rautio)

Wishing everyone a wonderful week as we release the 3rd and final part, to our time with Garrett Rautio (owner and operator) of Black Coffin Tattoo (and Piercing)  . Garrett's goal is legacy. He runs a stable of amazing talent and is father/mentor to Ivy Rautio. (One of the tattoo artists at Garrett's studio.)
In this episode, Rico joins us and the convo goes many fun places as it often does when Rico comes in. :) Just so our listeners aren't deprived of the information, Garrett had mentioned "Mr. FlashMachine" right when Rico came in, and we never circled back to this inspiration. Hope everyone, including Garrett Rautio (owner and operator) of Black Coffin Tattoo (and Piercing)  , had a fantastic Father's Day! Garrett is, not only a father but a mentor to his daughter, Ivy Rautio. (Ivy is a force already as a tattoo artist. Make sure to check her out too.)
When we meet a man like Garrett, visions of our youth spring up as both your hosts grew up in small business families. Our parents wanted to build something for us and show that we could do anything in this world, if we put our hearts and minds to it.

Getting back to St. Paul, MN with this interview; We are happy to spotlight, this week, Garrett Rautio (owner and operator) of Black Coffin Tattoo (and Piercing). His studio was established in 2015 but Garrett has been tattooing for over 2 decades. 
Amy met with Garrett first (both in real life and in this interview) and Rico joined in later. It was clear, from the start, that Garrett has much to offer the world of tattooing. He's a man that clearly cares and gives a lot of himself to this craft. From running a studio, to F.A.R.T meetings, to building legacy, to finding time to meet with us, Garrett is a pretty amazing guy (no matter how humble he is).

Ep 128. ”Pursuing Love” (Part 2 of Amy’s Interview with Adam Rothstein)

We are all pursuing love in our own ways but one thing that Adam Rothstein knows about the game of life is that ya don't sacrifice your Queen for a Pawn; Or, in less Chess-like terms, you don't sacrifice forever for the moment.
Whether it's a net at the end of an ice rink or financial freedom, Adam Rothstein stays focused and in the game. He's done so much more than your average guy in his late 20's; He authored two podcasts (The Blue Oasis and The Goalie Kid), has written books, does voice acting and is on his way to being debt free... Not something a lot of people can say for themselves, even if they've had more time to do it.

Adam Rothstein is one of the many awesome human's that Amy has met on the Nomad Network (a Jason Stapleton community of entrepreneurs). 
Adam is many things really. Mostly, he's guy, willing to do the work and learn whatever he has to in order to make his way in this world; A perfect person to chat with on this podcast where we like learning about the "path".

Ep 126. ”Pineapples!” (Post Mother’s Day celebration with Logan Liebetrau)

Last weekend was Mother's Day and we've been holding on to our talk with Logan Liebetrau for just, such an occasion.
Amy couldn't see beyond her week of work, so ideally, this would have been out the Monday after Mother's Day; In a perfect world, things would happen as we want, the way we want, when we want, but that's just not how it turns out (most of the time).
Logan's journey to becoming a mother was much like the release of this podcast: Delayed, filled will obstacles, but over all, epic and yielding.
In these days of hearing all kinds of talk about women, personal autonomy and controversies over family planning, we thought this conversation would be refreshing and offer another perspective. 
It's never easy to be a mom, but rarely is it so challenging to become one. Listen to hear what it was like for Logan to get her dream.

Ep 125. ”Nan the Man” (Amy Disapproves of Teaching Prisoners to Tattoo)

Pardon the lateness of this "hot take". We try our best, but at times, things get busy... 
NOW... Apologies out of the way: 
In this episode, Amy talks about her displeasure at hearing about Minnesota's want to pilot a "learn to tattoo in prison" program. 
Amy met with one of the correction's commissioners and had a good, passionate, talk, about all the flaws of this very expensive, hit to the tax payer (as well as the tattoo industry). 
Now, we would have loved to have shared Amy's actual meeting with Nan Larson ( Commissioner with the Corrections department), but Nan didn't approve of an "on-the-record" meeting, even though Amy found out about this program via mainstream media; Isn't always funny how the powers-that-be, paint the picture they want you to see?
