Ep 59. "Where Brains meets Brawn" Part 1 (An Interview with Suzanne Witt)
Monday Nov 02, 2020
Monday Nov 02, 2020
Introducing the very cool, Suzanne Witt!
Amy met Suzanne first as a client (perks of the job) and through working together on a tattoo, Amy learned how cool a human Suzanne is (a chemist who trains and competes in strongman/woman and powerlifting.) Once Rico learned that Suzanne shared his passion for strength, he was an instant fan of hers.
It was a no brainer to ask Suzanne for an interview. We're happy to showcase her and her path to becoming what she is today. She is an inspiration and what's really cool about this interview is that a lot of professions and interests came together for an awesome, two part conversation.
Thanks Suzanne for not only entrusting your skin, but donating a story to our podcast. We are really happy to know ya!

We know you've been waiting and we're happy you're back to hear part 2 of our time interviewing Rylee West Anderson (currently tattooing out of Minneapolis, MN, at Brass Knuckle Tattoo (@brassknuckletattoostudio).
Rylee is a joy of a human and a wonderful artist. It's very cool to meet someone who knew, from a young age, that they wanted to become a tattoo artist (and seriously meant it!). This is definitely a tale of preparation meets opportunity; No luck can keep a heart in tattooing... only love and crazy passion.
Give Rylee a follow if you haven't already... His work is beautiful! He's known for his snakes but if you look, you'll just see gobs of talent everywhere: @rylee_west_anderson

What a cool person! We were able to spin off the ever so amazing Dakotah Rose, by making IG introductions with her good friend (and the man who designed her dope T-shirt) Rylee West Anderson. Another gem of a human!
Rylee is currently tattooing out of Minneapolis, MN, at Brass Knuckle Tattoo (@brassknuckletattoostudio) He's got a wonderful style that has predominantly 'Traditional' roots... Probably because Rylee started to learn how to tattoo as a high school senior (around 2009) and had a lot of biker culture around; A good skull was always a sick tattoo! However, it's clear that, through years of obsession and honing, Rylee has made something completely his own.
Give Rylee a follow if you haven't already... His work is beautiful! @rylee_west_anderson

Ep 56."Second Life" Part 2 (An interview with Dakotah Rose)
Sunday Oct 11, 2020
Sunday Oct 11, 2020
What a wonderful learning experience! Taxidermy is so much in one package; art (all forms), biology, conservation, chemistry, and apparently a great way to meet people and have a lot of fun!
Dakotah Rose was amazing and we wanted to thank her for sharing so much with us. Please check out her website; There you can learn more and see more of Dakotah's creations (she's got some amazing items for sale too!).
Be sure to, after listening to this podcast, do yourself a favor and get on Amazon Prime to watch "Stuffed"; A documentary that features Dakotah's profession (features Dakotah and a wonderful baby zebra) and shows how truly beautiful taxidermy can be.
We fell in love with not only taxidermy here, but Dakotah herself. Thank you to our listeners and all who have given us your time. We appreciate all of you so much!

Ep 55."Second Life" Part 1 (An interview with Dakotah Rose)
Sunday Oct 04, 2020
Sunday Oct 04, 2020
Taxidermy has been a love and fascination of both Rico and Amy. We got the pleasure of asking whatever we wanted of the very talented, Dakotah Rose of Dakotah Rose Taxidermy.
Dakotah is such a wonderful person in every way possible. As we talked about some of her many experiences through learning, competing and now, teaching work shops in taxidermy (when able), we all found so much in common and laughed a lot.
Be sure to, after listening to this podcast, do yourself a favor and get on Amazon Prime to watch "Stuffed"; A documentary that features Dakotah's profession (features Dakotah and a wonderful baby zebra) and shows how truly beautiful taxidermy can be. Moreover, it gives new life to honor creatures of this planet.

Ep 54. "Raw to Refined" Part 2 (An Interview with Jerry Magni)
Sunday Sep 27, 2020
Sunday Sep 27, 2020
Thank you Jerry Magni (@jerry_magni) of Tenth Heart (a private studio) in Milan, Italy!
We hope to continue to learn from you. Amy's still digesting information and trying to figure out how to map her designs on 3D armatures. We'll see if that comes to anything??? So grateful for the tutorial that led us to you.
Jerry is a deeply passionate person and artist; Right away, you see the dedication he puts into everything.
Jerry started his professional art career in comics first, doing a number of titles and covers; He's put out books, designed for big companies and is a phenomenal tattoo artist.
This is Part 2 of a two part series where Jerry shares a lot of his thoughts about his own journey and his hopes for the future of tattooing. It's a wonderful conversation that wouldn't have happened if your hosts had it all together themselves; They needed information and went in search for the answers. Amy could still listen more. :/ :D
If you would like to work with Jerry, please reach out via his website: www.jerrymagni.com

Monday Sep 21, 2020
So this was so unexpected but such a gift from the Gods; Thank you Jerry Magni (@jerry_magni) of Tenth Heart (a private studio) in Milan, Italy!
We discovered Jerry on our own quest for knowledge. Amy hit Jerry up over tutorials and from there, figured this was the perfect type of human to talk tattoos with on the diaries.
Jerry is a deeply passionate person; Right away, you see the dedication in all that he does to make his work amazing.
Jerry started his professional art career in comics first, doing a number of titles and covers; He's put out books, designed for big companies and creates phenomenal looking tattoos.
In this two part series, Jerry shares a lot of his thoughts about his own journey and his hopes for the future of tattooing. It's a wonderful conversation that wouldn't have happened if your hosts had it all together themselves; They needed information and went in search for the answers.
Jerry didn't have to give his time, but he did. Moreover, he was a sheer pleasure to work with. He helped us grow in a conversation. We hope you will too! To check out

Ep 52. "Love in Every Line" (An Interview with Eric Bovenzi)
Sunday Sep 13, 2020
Sunday Sep 13, 2020
This was quite an amazing interview for us. We found a kindred spirit in Eric Bovenzi (Tattooing out of Rockville, MD). There is instant love for this guy! 'Romance' is the feeling in all that he creates (at least that's what Amy feels).
We'll let you all listen and decide for yourselves, but we found a forever friend in Eric. We also fell for his pup, Stanley.
Find Eric at: @bovenzitattoo He'll be tattooing at Stay Humble Tattoo Company (@stayhumbletattooco) from Sept 14-16. Our guess is that he'll be booked, but we see this guy getting real busy fast, so put your requests in for sure; Pretty sure you're looking at next year already... so contact him!
Follow the lovely Stanley at: @stanley_bovenzi
Thank you Eric... You're a joy man!
Also, check out: @stonethecrowtattoo ... Eric credits them highly in his journey as an artist.

Ep 51. "The Scientific Method" (An Interview with Tony Scientific)
Sunday Sep 06, 2020
Sunday Sep 06, 2020
Tony is a multi-international, award winning, tattoo artist, as well as a swell guy. It was so cool to get his time for a little bit and hear about the wild ride that amounts to a career of 23 years tattooing. He now resides in Hannover, Germany and works out of South Side Ink.
The best part of this interview is that Tony keeps learning even though, by all accounts, he's arrived at so much.
Really a pleasure all around. Please be sure to give him a follow on IG at: @scientific11 and look out for him if ever you find yourself in Germany. Follow the studio on IG at: @ southside_hannover
Thank you Tony!

This episode shares some of the happenings and thoughts of your hosts. Please DO contact us if you have insights. We always want to hear from our listeners.
The title is more a nod to a personal story that Amy shares during this episode. Within this story, Amy shares her views of certain social media dialog and how she likes to view it. She also makes it clear that when someone does come at her, or the things she values, she's more than willing to defend her position.
Rico, as always, calms everything down and makes us all smile.
Thank you for listening folks.

The Mission:
This podcast is about learning journeys. We (Amy and Rico) interview people who have braved the unknown; People who can offer, through their story/stories, communion and coping, for those who dare to pursue passion.
