Ep 129.”The Butterfly Effect” (Part 1 of our Interview with Garrett Rautio)
Monday Jun 13, 2022
Monday Jun 13, 2022
Getting back to St. Paul, MN with this interview; We are happy to spotlight, this week, Garrett Rautio (owner and operator) of Black Coffin Tattoo (and Piercing). His studio was established in 2015 but Garrett has been tattooing for over 2 decades.
Amy met with Garrett first (both in real life and in this interview) and Rico joined in later. It was clear, from the start, that Garrett has much to offer the world of tattooing. He's a man that clearly cares and gives a lot of himself to this craft. From running a studio, to F.A.R.T meetings, to building legacy, to finding time to meet with us, Garrett is a pretty amazing guy (no matter how humble he is).
This is a 3 part interview and we know that it'll be fun and informative, through and through. Thank you so very much Garrett. We appreciate all your time and attention to our podcast.
Hosts: Amy Nicholls & Rico Illiano (Rico joins in later.)

Ep 128. ”Pursuing Love” (Part 2 of Amy’s Interview with Adam Rothstein)
Monday May 30, 2022
Monday May 30, 2022
We are all pursuing love in our own ways but one thing that Adam Rothstein knows about the game of life is that ya don't sacrifice your Queen for a Pawn; Or, in less Chess-like terms, you don't sacrifice forever for the moment.
Whether it's a net at the end of an ice rink or financial freedom, Adam Rothstein stays focused and in the game. He's done so much more than your average guy in his late 20's; He authored two podcasts (The Blue Oasis and The Goalie Kid), has written books, does voice acting and is on his way to being debt free... Not something a lot of people can say for themselves, even if they've had more time to do it.
Thank you Adam. We know we kept you talking longer than you ever do. It was very appreciated. We also want to thank you for the extensive work you've put out on YouTube; You will help so many with what you've done already.
Also, Happy Memorial Day Listeners! Don't forget those who sacrificed the ultimate to have all that we have today.

Ep127. ”Growing the Game” (Part 1 of Amy’s Interview with Adam Rothstein)
Tuesday May 24, 2022
Tuesday May 24, 2022
Adam Rothstein is one of the many awesome human's that Amy has met on the Nomad Network (a Jason Stapleton community of entrepreneurs).
Adam is many things really. Mostly, he's guy, willing to do the work and learn whatever he has to in order to make his way in this world; A perfect person to chat with on this podcast where we like learning about the "path".
Adam produces several podcasts: The Blue Oasis (FB page here) is a hobby podcast and Goalie Kid is a fiction podcast. Goalie Kid is a story written by Adam, chronicling a young man who loves hockey and who's finding his way as an entrepreneur.
In this 2 part podcast, you'll get some great tips and tricks as well as a heavy dose of sport related allusions.
To find Adam's audiobook on Chess click here. If you're in the market for a daily journal, click here. Go give Adam some love.
Thank you Adam. I know I talked you out. Adam is very open about being on the spectrum and I know that this 2 part podcast really flexed all his social muscles. What a sport! ;)

Ep 126. ”Pineapples!” (Post Mother’s Day celebration with Logan Liebetrau)
Monday May 16, 2022
Monday May 16, 2022
Last weekend was Mother's Day and we've been holding on to our talk with Logan Liebetrau for just, such an occasion.
Amy couldn't see beyond her week of work, so ideally, this would have been out the Monday after Mother's Day; In a perfect world, things would happen as we want, the way we want, when we want, but that's just not how it turns out (most of the time).
Logan's journey to becoming a mother was much like the release of this podcast: Delayed, filled will obstacles, but over all, epic and yielding.
In these days of hearing all kinds of talk about women, personal autonomy and controversies over family planning, we thought this conversation would be refreshing and offer another perspective.
It's never easy to be a mom, but rarely is it so challenging to become one. Listen to hear what it was like for Logan to get her dream.
Hosts: Amy Nicholls & Rico Illiano (Rico knows Logan a bit from Club House, but mostly, he let the ladies take this one.)
Sound Design by: (Sound Wizard) Chuck Nunn (@djchucknunn) Intros and Exits were also done by Chuck in this series.

Ep 125. ”Nan the Man” (Amy Disapproves of Teaching Prisoners to Tattoo)
Tuesday May 03, 2022
Tuesday May 03, 2022
Pardon the lateness of this "hot take". We try our best, but at times, things get busy...
NOW... Apologies out of the way:
In this episode, Amy talks about her displeasure at hearing about Minnesota's want to pilot a "learn to tattoo in prison" program.
Amy met with one of the correction's commissioners and had a good, passionate, talk, about all the flaws of this very expensive, hit to the tax payer (as well as the tattoo industry).
Now, we would have loved to have shared Amy's actual meeting with Nan Larson ( Commissioner with the Corrections department), but Nan didn't approve of an "on-the-record" meeting, even though Amy found out about this program via mainstream media; Isn't always funny how the powers-that-be, paint the picture they want you to see?
Hopefully this podcast episode creates a discussion and gives added dimension to the fluff piece done here: https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2022/04/13/tattoo-supervisor-job-posting-minnesota-corrections-department-inmates-rehabilitation/
I would post the link to the job description, listed in this online article, labeled "posted the job late last week"... but it would seem that when that link is pressed on now, no job comes up as it did prior. Another funny happening since my conversation with Nan.
However, if you feel intensely about this as I do and have more to add to this conversation, you know you can always email us or Nan herself at : nanette.larson@state.mn.us
There's also her staff: kristine.flores@state.mn.us (Kristine) or their HR representative: katie.wynn@state.mn.us
I gotta say, it really makes me happy to influence this way. I hope all can hear this episode and understand this issue more.
Hosts: Amy Nicholls & Rico Illiano (Rico only thought it was a bad idea to teach prisoners... that is all)
Sound Design by: (Sound Wizard) Chuck Nunn (@djchucknunn) Intros and Exits were also done by Chuck in this series.

Ep 124. ”From Water” (Part 2 of Amy’s Interview with Carol LeBaron)
Monday Apr 25, 2022
Monday Apr 25, 2022
In this second installment, Carol LeBaron and Amy, get a little more on the metaphysical. Carol explains where her inspirations come from and both her and Amy get really nerdy about art.
As part 1 was released, we had some great feedback: A violinist said that she approaches her craft/art the same way, as well as similar mindsets when teaching. It was neat to hear that other artists connect, despite the form of art, medium, etc.
These diary entries are meant to inspire and get the creative juices flowing. Carol LeBaron is so full of wisdom and more; She's open to forever learning as she moves throughout life. Please make a point of following this talent anywhere you can find her. Her impact on textile art is significant in itself but more, Carol is a powerful creative force that's worthy of your time. She can be found on IG, FB and YouTube.
Her website is: https://carollebaron.com
Make sure to sign up for her mailing list as she offers a free look into some of her stitch meditations.
Hosts: Amy Nicholls & Rico Illiano (Rico let Amy nerd-out with her friend.)

Ep 123. ”The Artist Heart” (Part 1 of Amy’s Interview with Carol LeBaron)
Tuesday Apr 19, 2022
Tuesday Apr 19, 2022
Finally! They say that great things are worth the wait and that's certainly the case with this podcast with Carol LeBaron.
Amy met Carol (Not Karen), on the Nomad Network, back in 2020. They became fast friends as being an artist in the modern world is fettered with new technology and a lot of extra steps that seem to arrest "the flow" of creation.
Carol is an amazing textile artist. You can find her on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and maybe one day, she'll come back to ClubHouse, along with your hosts.
Thank you for this awesome 2 part podcast, Carol! You make being a little different, a little less lonely.

Ep 122. ”Always Learning” (Part 3 of Amy’s Interview with Patrick Ross)
Monday Apr 11, 2022
Monday Apr 11, 2022
After learning about all the characters and life lesson that Pat (Patrick Ross) had meet and learn from, we find that he's still learning, growing, seeking... It never ends!
We hope that our listeners who are seeking a career in tattooing, can listen to this journey and realize that even after decades in a business, the needle keeps moving. You'll look back one day, and realize that there's so much more ahead and hopefully, take some time to appreciate all that you've done... Just as Pat did with Amy in this 3 part walk down memory lane.
Thank you Pat! It was a pleasure meeting you.

Ep 121. ”People Talk” (Part 2 of Amy’s Interview with Patrick Ross)
Monday Apr 04, 2022
Monday Apr 04, 2022
From apprenticeship to instant tattoo studio owner, Patrick Ross has really experienced what it is to just keep on keeping-on.
In part 2, we talk a lot about the people we've met along the way; How they influenced our journey and our sincerest gratitude for the experience. Pat has some very rare experience with tattooing and the disabled world... Listen to discover.
It's funny how Pat wanted to teach in special education and through just his time learning the tattoo business, the universe still knew his heart and primed him for what's next in his life journey... Very cool how that works.

Monday Mar 28, 2022
Monday Mar 28, 2022
This is a wonderful series (3 part interview) with a tattoo artist that has operated for over 2 decades and is ready to take on new challenges, starting with being a Stay-at-home-dad. Meet Patrick Ross!
We dubbed this episode, "Clear the Way" as it's important to always make room for what's next. It was an important step when Pat entered tattooing and it's important as he's entering another important point in his life.
Thank you so much Pat! Loved this talk.

The Mission:
This podcast is about learning journeys. We (Amy and Rico) interview people who have braved the unknown; People who can offer, through their story/stories, communion and coping, for those who dare to pursue passion.
