Black Box 2 (Part 2 of Bella’s Black Box)
Monday Oct 31, 2022
Monday Oct 31, 2022
In Part 1, Amy introduced "Bella" and we learned about Bella's "apprenticeship" with her mentor "Victoria".
When we broke off last week, we were at the place where Bella was really starting to understand that she was in a bad situation with a studio that wasn't interested in helping her climb in her budding, career.
Tune in to see what happens next and thank you Listeners for coming back for Part 2.

Black Box 1 (Part 1 of ”Bella’s Black Box)
Monday Oct 24, 2022
Monday Oct 24, 2022
Very excited to announce this new segment of the podcast!
This is the "Black Box Series": Stories that need telling but are not about highlighting the "Who" of the podcast, rather concentrating on the "What", "When", "Where" and "Why's"; Leaving the specific players, anonymous.
The names have been changed to protect the innocent. Moving ahead, this podcast would like to offer this kind of anonymity to those who's stories are heavy, abusive and otherwise, uncomfortable.
We hope this offers more room for those who have stories to tell, but worry about the backlash, to come forward and share. Sometimes, this is the best way to heal and to help, not only you Listeners, but the storytellers themselves.
Thank you Bella. You mean a lot to this podcast and we are honored by your courage and your story.

Ep 141. ”Team True Beauty” (Part 2 of Amy’s Interview with Paulina Romain)
Monday Oct 17, 2022
Monday Oct 17, 2022
Paulina Romain was an instant friend (current friend too). She sounds to be a person, along with her family, that really strives for the best and all the while, keeps it lighthearted.
As someone who grew up in a small business family, I know that Paulina has all that is takes to see the kind of legacy she wants to cultivate, happen; Great attitude and support from many angles.
We hope our listeners will go to Paulina's new IG page for her own, tattoo studio "The Art of Ink Studio" and give it a follow. There's no posts currently, but this is a chance to really watch a place grow as it starts. This new studio is looking to blend the kind of service found in most hair salons and spas, with tattooing. I picture warmth and light, flowing everywhere. :)
Thank you so much Paulina. This podcast is excited for all the things ahead.

Ep 140. ”Taco Dog” (Part 1 of Amy’s Interview with Paulina Romain)
Tuesday Oct 11, 2022
Tuesday Oct 11, 2022
Super excited to introduce Paulina Romain to our listeners. She's had a very interesting journey into the world of tattooing. As Amy talked to her, she learned many things that are not only specific to Paulina, but also more about laws in other states; There seems to be unique challenges faced by PMU artists when wanting to get more into the tattoo artistry.
This is only part one Dairy Listeners. There's 2 parts to this one interview and by the end of the this airing, Paulina will probably be open to business at her own tattoo shop, "The Art of Ink Studio".
Make sure to follow Paulina in all ways as this is a multi-talented woman.

In Part 2 we hear more from Halo and Darren Monnity, of Black Lotus Tattoo Studio (located in Hanover, MD). Darren has been apprenticing for quite some time now. Going on a year if not over that mark now.
Be sure to keep your eyes on Darren by following him on IG and also TikTok . Keep an eye on Halo and Black Lotus as I'm sure all will be excited to get Darren busy tattooing, when the time comes. This will be such a talent when tattooing starts (We're confident), so get in on the magic in the making and maybe you can help this artist by donating skin to the story.

Ep 138. ”How it Happened” (Part 1 of Amy’s Interview with Darren Monnity and Halo)
Wednesday Sep 28, 2022
Wednesday Sep 28, 2022
Amy wanted this interview for a while and just like setting up a time to actually go and meet with Halo and Darren Monnity, this podcast airing had to be pushed.
We extend our sincerest apologies to the fresh blood, Darren Monnity, over at Black Lotus Tattoo Studio (here in MD). Darren is the apprentice of Halo (a friend of the podcast and Season 4 Ink Master). This is just Part 1 and as this is all pre-recorded from earlier in the year, we know that this story just keeps unfolding, even past Part 2 (the conclusion next week).
Thanks to both of you for your time and patience with us. :) It's a grace we, very much so, appreciate.

Ep 137. ”The Resurrection” (Part 3 of Amy’s Interview with Sabrina Mati)
Monday Sep 05, 2022
Monday Sep 05, 2022
So this is the Resurrection phase... As Sabrina is in her tattoo apprenticeship now, I'm sure this is more the phase she finds herself in today, rather than at the end or this podcast series.
Like a Phoenix, there will be many deaths within the life cycle of a creative. Sabrina Mati exemplified this journey completely and we hope to see all the many places she flies to in her future.
For now, you can find Sabrina at Famous Tattoo in Ventura, CA.
We are beyond grateful to know you Sabrina. Thank you for your time and love.

Ep 136. ”The Ash” (Part 2 of Amy’s Interview with Sabrina Mati)
Monday Aug 29, 2022
Monday Aug 29, 2022
The ash is honestly the stage that both this podcast and Sabrina Mati met in. The ash stage is the stage where we aren't what we were or what we want to be. It's a call to reflect and to accept. In truth, this whole interview/conversation was really "The Ash" phase, but over all... We had to pay homage to the legend of the Phoenix as it's such a great symbol and so tattoo-centric.
You can find Sabrina working at Famous Tattoo in Ventura, CA. She's their apprentice and a damn good one (if we get to say anything about it).

Ep 135. ”The Dying” (Part 1 of Amy’s Interview with Sabrina Mati)
Monday Aug 22, 2022
Monday Aug 22, 2022
As introduced, this 3 part interview with Sabrina Mati, really is most like the life cycle of a phoenix.
Sabrina is a new apprentice in the tattoo world, but a vetted art professional as she's spent most of her adult life as an animator; Even working on the hit "Rick and Morty".
Amy met Sabrina on a FaceBook Forum for apprentices and from the moment Amy saw this talent, she knew she had to meet her. (What she was able to teach herself was amazing to say the least.) Sabrina is already such a force, but as far as what she's going to be in tattooing... The sky is the limit for this Phoenix.
Sabrina has since been apprenticing and working at Famous Tattoo in Ventura. Please follow this studio and this talent to really be a part of the legend; We did.
Thank you so very much for all of this time Sabrina. Our podcast is honored by you!

This podcast is about learning journeys. We (Amy and Rico) interview people who have braved the unknown; People who can offer, through their story/stories, communion and coping, for those who dare to pursue passion.
